Public company directors are facing numerous challenges in their roles today.  Join us as we discuss the issues that hold the focus of public company directors including issues that they are currently tackling as well as those in the rear view mirror.  

What keeps the directors up at night?

  • Do we have adequate succession planning?
  • How are we dealing with enterprise risk management?
  • Is the composition of our board appropriate for the issues we are currently facing?

Our Panelists:

Ken Burnes – serves as the lead director of State Street and has been a member of the Board of Directors of Watts Water Technologies, Inc., an NYSE-listed supplier of products for use in the water quality, water safety, water flow control and water conservation markets, since February 2009. Ken is a retired Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cabot Corporation

Ralph Verni –  serves as Board Chairman of the Eaton Vance family of mutual funds; as a member of the Advisory Board of Commonwealth Capital Ventures, L.P. venture capital funds; as a member of Zurich Financial’s five-person Investment Management Advisory Council; and as a member of Colgate University’s Board Endowment Committee.

Kim Williams -  serves on the boards of Weyerhaeuser Company, E.W.Scrips and Xcel Energy.  Kim is a retired Partner and Senior Vice President of Wellington Management LLP, where she was most recently Associate Director of Global Industry Research.

The program will be moderated by: 

Walter Pressey – serves as an independent director at The Forsyth Institute, is on the Board of Advisors of Patina Solutions and a member of the Finance Committee at Children’s Hospital Boston.  Previously Walt served as the President and Vice Chairman, CFO at Boston Private Financial Holdings., President and Director at FEI-Boston and President and Director at Harvard Business Alumni Association of Boston.
